Youths from Latin America and the Caribbean invited to express what #TheEducationWeNeed is

CLADE’s and UNICEF’s iniciative wants to hear and collect proposals and challenges from adolescents and youths from Latin America and the Caribbean

Partnering with young people and secondary school and university students from different countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, and with the support of the UNICEF Regional Office, CLADE promotes the initiative “#TheEducationWeNeed

Adolescents and young people in the region are invited to express, through short videos, photographs, texts, poems, drawings and other means of expression, how education should be in order to guaranttee social, economical, cultural and environmental life in its entirety and to ensure the realization of rights and a horizon of dignity for all.

The points of view from students and youths will be systematized and sent, in both text and audiovisual formats to the UN Committee of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, to human rights bodies at all levels, the UNESCO, authorities in the Inter-American System of Human Rights and the United Nations, as well as to authorities who are active within the education field at national and regional levels.

Besides, contributions received will pass through a curatorship to be shown in a special multimedia section at CLADE’s website and other Campaign’s media. They will also be presented in an international conference with the participation of the students, in 2020.

The initiative will be lauched at the 22nd Pan-American Child Congress, to be held from Oct. 28-31 in Cartagena, Colombia. Also, it is promoted in view of the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (November 20).
